Hi, I was wondering, if it is possible to run pre-Csound-versions like MUSIC-IV or MUSIC-V on modern systems (Linux or Windows). Does anybody have an idea, where to find and how to run this software? I'would really love to try one of the predecessors of Csound... Could you maybe send me a copy of music 5? That would be great! I don't know if it will work on my laptop, but i really would like to give it a try! -- View this message in context: http://csound.1045644.n5.nabble.com/MUSIC-N-tp5072541p5072717.html Sent from the Csound - General mailing list archive at Nabble.com. I now have MUSIC-V running on Ubuntu (thanks to Mr.Lazzarini) and started experimenting with the included examples. Unfortunately the only opcodes used in these scores are OSC and AD2, as well as OUT and GEN. There are some very useful blog entries on codehop.com, concerning MUSIC-V and Csound, but it would definitely be great to have a look at the whole documentation. Does anybody have an idea, where to find the manual? -- View this message in context: http://csound.1045644.n5.nabble.com/MUSIC-N-tp5072541p5075080.html Sent from the Csound - General mailing list archive at Nabble.com. By the way, MUSIC V does not have that many opcodes. From its symbol table, we have: O','U','T',' O','S','C', 'A','D','2', 'R','A','N' ,'E','N','V', S','T','R', 'A','D','3', 'A','D','4', 'M','L','T', 'F','L','T', 'R','A','H', 'S','E','T', 'I','O','S' Code for FLT is actuallly missing. I was going to add it but could not find anyone who could reliably tell me what type of filter it is. I presume a resonator, but not certain. Victor On 14 Dec 2011, at 17:07, E. Quickly comparing FLT as described in The Technology of Computer Music against the RESON and FILTER opcodes in the MUSIC IV Programmer's Guide, I would guess that FLT takes after FILTER, which is a single pole pair bandpass filter. I wonder if this music IV manual is actually for IV BF, because they're talking about fortran compilers etc. My understanding was that MUSIC IV was pure 7094 code and MUSIC IVBF was written in FORTRAN. But MUSIC IVBF was not from Bell, but from Princeton, afaik. Strange. Can't comment on that as it's well out of my scope of knowledge. However, I did some further looking into FLT in The Technology of Computer Music. It is indeed similar to FILTER in the MUSIC IV guide. I'll scan the relevant pages and send them your way. I believe this should be enough to implement the missing opcode. Though there seems to be some discrepancy to how the score record for FLT is described in two different sections of the book. On Wed, Dec 14, 2011 at 4:32 PM, Victor Lazzarini |

Also the FILTER opcode in MusicIV is a 2nd-order resonator. The resonator opcode is something else (not sure exactly). yes, thanks for confirming it. The Music IV man is pretty clear about it.
