[Csnd] Pan Question

Subject | [Csnd] Pan Question |
I've got a quad pan position question for which the math(s) is beyond me. It's related to the example johnff has described in his documentation for the pan opcode. I've a MIDI controller producing values from 0-1. I need to come up with corresponding values for kx and ky in pan. This controller needs to map onto "circular" values (of x and y) in which the controller's 0 and 1 represent direct to the rear, and .5 represents direct front; movement is clockwise. In addition, all sounds originate at center position (.5, .5) and gradually move (via another controller which ranges from 0-1) to the position represented by the above controller. (Thus this second controller moves the x,y axis from (.5,.5) to the new position specified by the first controller.) I hope the above (muddled?) description is reasonably clear. Can someone give me the algorithm - especially the part representing the final position on the x,y axis? Hello Nicolas! I just spotted your post and was intrigued by the subject. the title sounds really interesting, but unfortunately I can't access soundcloud, it doesn't sit well with text-based browsers and my GNOME-Orca setup isn't good for browsing, especially as a GUI newbie. So would it be possible to get a direct link, or could you send me a file of this piece? Wow, these are really nice! Although my French is pretty bad I can still appreciate the composition. Thanks a lot for sharing :) On 11 Dec 2011, at 23:16, Drweski nicolas wrote: Ben McHugh Composer-Musician based in Dublin |

Thanks a lot for the words ! Most of the sounds are programmed with Csound and mixed in Protools. The method of composition I usually use is based on a constant movment to be able to create variations and superposition of spaces. I used a lot in there random algorythm to control volume and panoramic under Csound and built the architecture and put the sounds together to interact with the voice under protools.
