[Csnd] Bit OT strange phenomena

I got a Zoom H1 and T.Bone shotgun mic. Built a phantom supply for the mic and a switchable +12 dB low-noise preamp. I tested by running noise from csound to loudspeakers and recording the sound. Audacity spectrum plot shows signals to 23 kHz, but trying outdoors recording ambient sounds, there are nothing after 7 kHz. The weather is quite humid. What can cause this kind of low-pass effect? Or are hi freq signals just missing outdoors?

I guess it's true to say that generated white noise will probably have more ultra-highs than most natural sounds. 7Khz is however quite low.

found a pdf from nasa, where atmospheric propagation had a really big effect, humidity, vegetation even the time of day etc. The pdf was corrupted, so some graphs were unreadable, but overall high-freqs are attenuated. But didn't expect so strong effect.
thanks
