I have some old gigastudio format files that I want to use in another software sample. I have a few options but I'm not sure what will work. Can I get a clue? Any help appreciation no matter how tiny. Note this might be doable with csound. That's why I wrote "slightly" OT because maybe it's csound-related after all. - Option 1: use 'awave' to convert them to a sound font. Then use csound to play them back. How much of the original configuration is converted? I'm especially interested in loop points. Maybe layers. - Option 2: use 'awave' to convert them to some other software sampler format-- purchase that software sampler. But what software? Again, will all information such as loop points and layers be supported by the other software sampler? Thanks, Dennis |

Don't know if the file format you're looking for is supported, but that's a text book use case for ecasound. It's fantastic for batch coding audio conversion and edit tasks.

That's the thing, I don't know what file format I'm looking for. My criteria is to translate the .gig into something that preserves as much of its structure as possible, but what that thing is, could be any other software sampler that is not obsolete (as gigastudio is) including using sound fonts (SF2) and using the Csound sound font capability.
