hello list,

please excuse if this has been discussed before, but i haven't used
csound on windows (and windows in general) in a long time. i'm
beginning a course on csound and all my students use windows. so i
tried installing 5.08 on windows myself (XP) to check how it works.

i had no problems whatsoever with the installation. everything seems to
work, i only found a problem with csoundgui: when i open a csd with
FLTK opcodes, the widgets aren't properly drawn and the panel is
frozen with whatever was on the screen at the moment.

i'm using the examples that come with the csound distribution, and they
work when run from the command line, except that the fonts are huge, as
has been mentioned already.

i checked again on linux, and nothing of this happens.
