Greetings, Just a quick note to point out that this: http://booki.flossmanuals.net/csound/cecilia/ lands the reader on the Cabbage description. In fact, as far as I can tell there is no page regarding Cecilia in the FLOSS manual. Am I wrong ? Best, dp |

hi dave - this is true. the reason is that when we started the csound floss manual (i think it was in the late 1890s) we planned a cecilia chapter. that's why it is there. shortly after, it turned out that cecilia no longer used csound as audio engine. so we renamed the chapter to cover the new and wonderful cabbage frontend. you may ask why we did not delete the cecilia chapter. this is one of the limitations so far on the flossmanuals platform, that you cannot delete a chapter at all. the good thing is that a normal user will not see anything if looking on the sidebar at http://en.flossmanuals.net/csound/index/. but it is indeed a little bit misleading. all best - joachim Am 20.08.2014 um 14:12 schrieb Dave Phillips: > Greetings, > > Just a quick note to point out that this: > > http://booki.flossmanuals.net/csound/cecilia/ > > lands the reader on the Cabbage description. Cecilia seems to be here now, as Cecilia4, https://code.google.com/p/cecilia4/ I have quite missed Cecilia, as I have never managed to get this re-written/Python version working reliably. If anyone cares to take it for a spin, then feedback to this list on how it is working now would be much appreciated. Well, no wonder Cs6 didn't cause any problems for it. :) It uses the Pyo module for its DSP work now. Seeing the Cecilia5 site's insistence that its software "uses Csound...", I can't help wonder why those folks wouldn't avoid a flat lie, if only for reputation's sake. Guess I'm (still) naive. I see no such claims. I do see this at Google code : "Previously written in tcl/tk, Cecilia (version 4, deprecated) was entirely rewritten in Python/wxPython and uses the Csound API for communicating between the interface and the audio engine. Version 4.2 is the final release of version 4. Cecilia5 now uses the pyo audio engine created for the Python programming language. pyo allows a much more powerfull integration of the audio engine to the graphical interface. Since it's a standard python module, there is no need to use an API to communicate with the interface." Oops, what I saw was on the Cecilia_4_ site. Sorry.
