Subject[Csnd] .csoundrc problem
Hello friends.

I have created a .csoundrc file in my home directory, but it seems that
csound doesn't even check it; the commands in the .csoundrc file work fine
when i paste them in the terminal. Am i supposed to do anything more with
the .csoundrc file? The manual only said that i have to create one and write
the flags.

For Csound 6, you should put values in .csound6rc.

Sidenote: Should we consider doing something where we have .csound6rc
used first, then fall back to .csound6rc? I imagine that in the
future, we might have that be a general policy, so that csound 7 could
use a .csound7rc or .csoundrc. It'd give some flexibility for whether
to override per version or use the shared rc file.

Thank you Steven. I'm not sure if i missed it somewhere, but the manual only
mentions .csoundrc and nothing about putting csound version numbers in it.

Yes, it seems the manual needs to be updated. We modified it to
.csound6rc when we first started work on Csound6, as CS6 had new flags
that weren't recognized by Csound5. Since we wanted to support having
multiple versions of Csound on the same system, we added the
.csound6rc so that it would not conflict with .csoundrc used by CS5.
At this point though, I think we should change the .rc system to use
.csoundrc as a backup and have versions as an option.
