Hello, I'm trying to install csound double on fedora 12 (with ccrma installed already). I have two problems: 1- csound (float) is already installed but when I type csound at the terminal I get an error "csound: error while loading shared libraries: libwiiuse.so..." 2- I cannot find csound double. I have tried "yum install csound64" and all other combinations but no luck. Thanks very much in advance. I think there is no doubles package. You can find libwiiuse in http://wiiuse.net/ http://wiiuse.sourceforge.net/ http://sourceforge.net/projects/wiiuse/ Victor On 18 May 2010, at 15:23, Peiman Khosravi wrote:

Thanks Victor, Pity about the doubles. I guess I'll have to try another linux distr. as I was hoping to eventually get a 64bit linux machine. And of course without the double blue won't run in api mode either. Best, Peiman On 18 May 2010, at 18:56, Victor Lazzarini wrote:

yes, debian is the best distro for Csound at the moment, thanks to Felipe. Victor On 18 May 2010, at 19:37, Felipe Sateler wrote: > Try out debian :p > > On Tue, May 18, 2010 at 14:12, Peiman Khosravi |

Thanks. Will try Debian. Are there any planet ccrma like package for debian (or an easy to configure patch for real-time kernel)? Unfortunately, no. There was an attempt at getting a RT kernel a while ago, but it didn't get very far AFAIK. This is still one of the missing areas for debian. On Tue, May 18, 2010 at 14:56, Peiman Khosravi |

i run UbuntuStudio with a preempt kernel. I have no xruns with Jack after having set the right settings in the UbuntuStudio manager (or something like that) for priority settings etc. Csound 5.12 from CVS is esay to install as you can see in my blog: http://www.csounds.com/node/1373 greetings menno |

Thanks, I did try UbuntuStudio once. I have to say it was much more difficult to set up than fedora. If there isn't an rt kernel then I'm not sure I'll go to debian (I need it customised for ardour). It's strange that csound is not maintained on other linux dist. SC3 and pd were so easy to install with planet ccrma. Is it just a case of someone building it? If so I can at least try and build the latest package on fedora. I don't know if this can then be added to yum repository or not? If I move to linux full-time I'll be happy to contribute towards maintaining the fedora package, knowledge permitting. cheers Peiman On 19 May 2010 12:13, menno <nabob_cd@yahoo.com> wrote:

It's a question of packaging. I would have thought that the package would have been tested, because what you report is a simple dependency problem. Who is the maintainer, planet ccrma or fedora? In any case, building Csound on Linux is quite straightforward, and if you are planning to use it there, I would advise you build your own versions (from released sources or from cvs). Thanks Victor, I believe fedora is the maintainer for csound not planet ccrma. It certainly sounds like building it should be the way forward. I've done it on OS X so doing it on linux shouldn't be that much more difficult. I'll give it a go next week and report back. Best, Peiman On 19 May 2010, at 17:40, Victor Lazzarini wrote:
