Subject[Csnd] First Csound Live Coding at LAC 2010
hi -

today in the lunch concert at the linux audio conference in utrecht,
andrés cabrera has performed the first (at least the first i know about)
live coding session with csound. he did it from scratch in qutecsound using
live event sheets, at first in one, then in addition in another tab, moving
between them freely.

everything ran perfectly, so this is a completely new fascinating way of
playing (with) csound now. tomorrow andrés will hold a workhop here about
the live event sheet in general and with python scripting in particular.
unfortunately this will not be online because only the paper sessions are
streamed.

ragards from utrecht to all -

      joachim

WOW!!!

Congratulations Andres.

Can't wait to see (and share) videos of this at cSounds.com and to have
examples included in the next release of QuteCsound.

LiveCoding is such a "hot topic" and it is fantastic that Andreas is
showing "us"
all how to do this with the latest Csound/qutecsound

Please keep us posted.

I would love to see a demonstration of this as well! I have been
experimenting with live coding in Max/MSP and Pd, and I have found it
not only to be a fun way of performing but also an incredible learning
method. Trying to "program" music within a time limit forces you to
really understand the language inside and out, the result being that it
speeds up your workflow immensely while expanding your creativity.
Csound could really benefit from this capability.

Congrats, Andres. I can't wait to be able to try this myself. And thank
you for all the work you've done.
