Dear community, has someone ever tried to imitate some of the instruments of Harry Partch? I have the idea of organizing a concert with some of his works. Unfortunately it would be very difficult to rent his collection of instruments and bring it to germany. So, maybee it would be an idea to make imitations by his instruments with csound. If someone has already done it, it would be great if he or she could keep me informed! Thanks Stefan |

I've created a music sequencer for realizing his tunings: http://rationale.sourceforge.net A tutorial and an example piece: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEkD_SisGz0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoJuajvYs6I It's written in Python, using the Csound module. Let me know if you want to try it, if you have questions, etc. Csound lends itself very well to just intonation! I haven't (and wouldn't) tried to imitate his instruments as far as their timbre. I've never figured out why someone so concerned with harmonic tunings would use percussion and plucked strings exclusively. ?!?! -Chuckk On Sun, May 23, 2010 at 4:51 PM, Stefan Thomas <kontrapunktstefan@googlemail.com> wrote: Dear community, -- http://www.badmuthahubbard.com |
