Subject[Csnd] CSoundQt on Windows cannot read some csd's and stops
Just installed Csound 6.09.1 for Windows, also to get CsoundQ (Although this
is not mentioned during the install).

When I launch CsoundQt it complains a few times about csd's it cannot read
and then stops:

Cannot read file :examples/Html5 Support/Minimal_Html_example.csd
Cannot read file :examples/Music/Bach-Invention_1.csd
Cannot read file :examples/Synths/Waveform_Mix.csd

Hi,

Thank for letting know. You can just ignore the message. It is usually
outputted when CsoundQt tries to open previously opened files, next time it
should be gone away.

Did you have another version of CsoundQt before that you used to check the
html-support? Or somehow Michael's settings' flile has happened to come also in
the installer.

Ayway, it should be OK next time when you start CsoundQt.

Hi Tarmo,

Unfortunately it does not go away, tried it several times. I might have
had an earlier version on this Windows 10 laptop, not sure.

Is there a way to clear the previously opened files (INI file or similar)?

Hi,

if you don't have other important settings to keep, you can do
Help->ResetPreferences.

Actually I donw't know where Windows keeps the configuration, if it is an
issue, I will find out.

Ok, but the problem is: CsoundQt does not start at all. After the error
messages it does not appear...

Hi,

Can you download and try the latest release candidates of Csound:

http://tarmo.uuu.ee/varia/failid/cs/CsoundQt/CsoundQt-0.9.5-rc2-win-mingw64.zip.zip (built last night with mingw)

or

http://tarmo.uuu.ee/varia/failid/cs/CsoundQt/CsoundQt-0.9.5-rc2-win64.zip
(built with MSVC, reported to work).

- just unzip and run CsoundQt from there.

Might also be that there is something from older/newer versions of Csound i
Program files/Csoundx64 folder that creates conflicts. If the problem stays, try
to rename the Csound Installation folder an reinstall Csound.

People have reported it working on Windows 10 (the second one) and using
installed Csound 6.09.1. So there might be a mess in your Csound installation.

Michael announced also a release candidate of Csound 6.10
https://ci.appveyor.com/api/buildjobs/kptdhpcnq040eng0/artifacts/msvc
%2FSetup_Csound_x64_6.10.0rc-vst.exe

Please rename existing Csoundx64 directory, try to insstall Csound from that
link, try CsoundQt from that. If it has problems, please uninstall and
reinstall Csound 6.09.1 and try again those builds I sent the links in
previous mail.

Thank you for trying these things out! In the end if you feel completely fed
up you can think about WinXound...

We were writing on the sama time,

good you got it solved. Windows installer does not remove previous files so
there might have been conflicting libraries lying around.

Good that it worked out!
