I put up a wiki for us to submit our challenge entries: http://tobiah.org/wiki/index.php/Sine_composition_challenge I put one entry up already as an example. I will do some more when I get more time, but please add your own submissions to the wiki if you care to. You have to confirm a valid email address to get edit permission. Let's hope spammers don't destroy this wiki like they did the last one. By the way, I still have a backup of the old csound wiki before it was destroyed. I may try to move the content to this new (better) wiki, but if anyone would like to work on that, I'll send them the archive. Tobiah |

Sorry Mr Tobiah, I have some question. Do I add my "composition" to the wiki ? And can I do it ? Furthermore can I put another pieces ? And which is new deadline ? Thanks for your patience, and ciao franc Tobiah-3 wrote: > > I put up a wiki for us to submit our challenge entries: > > http://tobiah.org/wiki/index.php/Sine_composition_challenge > > I put one entry up already as an example. francibal wrote: > Sorry Mr Tobiah, > I have some question. Do I add my "composition" to the wiki ? And can I do > it ? That's the idea. You can upload your score and optionally a compiled sound file of your piece. For the challenge, you must provide the score so that we know that the orchestra was not augmented :) > Furthermore can I put another pieces ? Sure. Go to: http://tobiah.org/wiki/index.php/Csound_compositions and make an entry with your name. I suggest then editing the new page with one link per piece, so that there can be discussion of each piece on their own pages. I put an old piece of mine up for an example. The way this wiki works is that if you include a link in your page [[other page name|display text]] and then click on that link, the new page is created. And which is new deadline ? I just thought we'd see whether new submissions are still coming in. It's been quite interesting so far. Tobiah |

Only for knowledge, in the page of Mr ffitch, the link to wave file it's forbidden by server. The other link work well. Maybe that happens to me only, i don't know. Anyway there is ogg file (and now i will go to listen with very glad feeling). Hope helpful, ciao, franci Tobiah-3 wrote: > > I put up a wiki for us to submit our challenge entries: > > http://tobiah.org/wiki/index.php/Sine_composition_challenge > > I put one entry up already as an example. never mind, i have download ogg, and ... really i'm yet in trance ... thank you, i like this kind of music. It bring me into a deep-set (i hope dictionary italian-english is well). I don't know if it's a spiritual condition, or what, but i like this sensation, and maybe i need it. And then thank you for that. ciao, franci. jpff-2 wrote: > > Sorry ; prtmissions changed > > Ought to give the C program as well -- warts and all > > ==John ff >> >> Only for knowledge, >> in the page of Mr ffitch, the link to wave file it's forbidden by server. >> The other link work well. I have created a page on the wiki for myself, and submitted a score for the challenge: http://tobiah.org/wiki/index.php/Jason_Conklin I am pretty much brand-new to Csound - I started learning it in earnest just a few weeks ago - and this challenge was an amazing way for me to focus on scoring and figuring out how to make a piece work without all the potential complexity of a rich orchestra file. This submission is my first finished csound piece, and pretty much my first finished piece of computer or synthesizer music of any kind, so I'd love to hear feedback, suggestions, and critique. Just be nice! I coded it all in vi... and definitely understand a little more deeply why people might want to use scoring software. I'm just... not there yet. Full disclosure: I made some minor changes to the orchestra code to help me with scoring - mainly I snuck a couple of cpspch() functions in there - see the wiki and the .csd for details. Thanks for listening! /jc |

Hello ! I've just uploaded my submission to the wiki. It's been quite an experience for me to upload my files but everything seems ok. I didn't pay attention to the fact that it was a SHORT sine composition challenge. My files is just over 5 mn. I hope it's ok. -- http://www.myspace.com/algodonciego http://www.myspace.com/1h2f |

Just be nice! very nice ! if you want a suggestion, here it is: the very last second seems to me more like an intro to another part of the piece than to an ending. so either cut it off or expand it (IMHO of course). very nice sounds anyway ! and a good sense of space and rhythm. regards, Stef |

Hi all, I've added another piece to Mr Tobiah's Wiki, about challenge, obviously. Mini thought : by me, all the music for challenge is nice (really I like all that music), and, more important (for me), all the pieces are interesting, and inspiring; every piece with his "style". Yes, i know, it is obvious. But again a confirm, restrictions are stimulant. ciao. franci. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Sinewave-compositions-challenge.-tp23351320p23572993.html Sent from the Csound - General mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

I added my entry. I used Blue as my front end, using the microtonal piano roll along with the tempo editor to create my score. http://tobiah.org/wiki/index.php/Brianwredfern |

Please post all these compositions in the cSounds.com podcast too! It would be nice to have them all there as well - and have them pop into my iPhone automatically. Dr. B. I hope it's ok. 'short' originally referred only to the notion that we would be done with the event quickly. There are no restrictions of any kind on the piece - only that the orchestra not be modified. Toby |
