Subject[Csnd] Jack on Intel Mac OS 10.5
Hi Folks -

Is anyone using jack on os x?  I see that there is a MacPorts port, as well as a dedicated (separate, I think) project at www.jackosx.com.  I installed the latter, which works via coreaudio only.

I couldn't get csound to start working with CoreAudio after configuring CA to use Jack - csound always complains of failing to set the buffer size, like so:

audio buffered in 1024 sample-frame blocks
*** CoreAudio: open: could not set buffer size
Failed to initialise real time audio output

I played with combinations of jack's buffer size and -B/-b command line options, but no dice.  Anyone with advice on Jack and Mac OSX?

Thank you!

Do you mean you can't get the Csound Jack IO module working?

After I'd installed the version at jackosx.com, no - I get:

*** error: unknown rtaudio module: 'jack'

Perhaps the mac distro I have doesn't have Jack built with it?
I'm running Csound version 5.10 (float samples) Dec 22 2008.

It does as far as I can remember. Perhaps there is an issue with the linking.

I assume that you installed the Intel float build for 10.4? The
10.5-specific build is for PowerPCs (and MacCsound users) and does not
contain the rtjack module.

I will attempt to add the rtjack module next time, but I don't want to build
Jack, so I need to ensure that the rtjack module will not cause errors if
Jack is not present.

I probably installed the PPC version, reading the guidance on getting MacCsound to run.  I installed the Intel-float 10.4 build, and now I get:

audio buffered in 128 sample-frame blocks
*** rtjack: could not connect to JACK server

So, the rtjack madule being loaded, but it can't find the JACK server, which _is_ running.  Anyone have advice on how I can debug?  Thanks guys - b

Probably a version mismatch? I will need to look into this for the next release.

Not sure at the moment, really. I will need to look into this, when
I am in front of a Mac.
