Are you using hard wire patching, or ADAT Light Pipe?

For the Light Pipe, ADAT's use an IC commonly referred 
to at Alesis (when I worked there 10-years ago) as 
the "One-K Chip" (or 1K chip). It takes the data in the 
light (and once turned into electronic data) takes the 
signal data and divi's it up to it's respective track channels.

Going via hard wire patching with ADAT, it should be a 
1-to-1, 2-to-2 patch path.

Has to be that way if you're going to run 4-units in sync
to get 32-channel digital audio recording.

That's what I mean. yes.

I use a MOTU 828 and I can edit the name of the 
channels but I can't
change the order of the numbered outputs. These are:

1-8 Analog
9-16 ADAT
17-18 SPDIF

So for example if I need to use SPDIF I would have 
to make in csound
nchnls = 18 to use a SPDIF stereo output.

Is there a way to solve this in Csound? Max/Msp 
has an I/O Mapping where
you can assign the hardware in/outs to the 
software ones. I think this
would be very usefull for csound.
