Forgive me if I’ve missed a previous posting on this, but is “grain” known to work in 5.07? -Lou --------------------------- Permanent email: loucohen@jolc.net Music and video: http://ruccas.org/wiki.pl/Lou_Cohen More music and video: http://www.youtube.com/loucohen Astronomy: http://www.jolc.net ---------------------------- |

IIRC, there is a bug in grain on 5.07. It's already been fixed in CVS. On Jan 25, 2008, at 2:12 PM, Lou Cohen wrote: An instrument of mine that uses the grain opcode and has worked well under earlier versions of csound now seems broken. |

Hi Lou, I had a problem with an example from the Csound book that used the grain opcode in 5.07. Downloading a fresh installer from sourceforge, uninstalling then installing resolved it for me, but I don't know for sure which step did it (I had pulled an installer pretty soon after the release). Platform was Windows XP. One of the great things about csound is that often another opcode will do the job (if you’re not too demanding, and I don’t think I am.) I’m looking at grain3 at the moment and it does seem to produce results similar to what I wanted from grain. Thanks for observations, however; they saved me a lot of beating of the head on the wall! -Lou On 1/25/08 10:38, " gdedwards@blueyonder.co.uk" < gdedwards@blueyonder.co.uk> wrote: > An instrument of mine that uses the grain opcode and has worked well under --------------------------- Permanent email: loucohen@jolc.net Music and video: http://ruccas.org/wiki.pl/Lou_Cohen More music and video: http://www.youtube.com/loucohen Astronomy: http://www.jolc.net ---------------------------- |

Mea culpa; I had a student-style error in the C when optimising some code, and it was fixed on Tue Oct 23 20:03:20 2007 which was after the release of 5.07. As has been said, it is corect now and will be in 5.08 (forthcoming) Apologies for my error; I promise to try harder in future ==John ff |

I look forward to 5.08 when released. In the meantime I’ll get by with grain3, I think — and on my performance computer, a laptop, I haven’t upgraded to 5.07, so no problem there! -Lou On 1/25/08 12:23, " jpff@cs.bath.ac.uk" < jpff@cs.bath.ac.uk> wrote: Mea culpa; I had a student-style error in the C when optimising some code, --------------------------- Permanent email: loucohen@jolc.net Music and video: http://ruccas.org/wiki.pl/Lou_Cohen More music and video: http://www.youtube.com/loucohen Astronomy: http://www.jolc.net ---------------------------- |
