type 24 is the one of the "Plastic Sliders" (http://www.csounds.com/manual/html/FLslider.html)
It works fine for me on osx 10.4.11 but don't know about further compatibility - I thought FLTK would be compatible with most systems.

Maybe some of the developers can explain the errors Joachim and Aaron are having.
