Recently I made an offer of $100 for cound.com. I actually got a reply, telling
me the minimum offer is 2000 euros. And they aren't likely to accept that
either---more likely to hold out for a better offer.

My opinion is that owning csound.com would make very little difference with
regard to web traffic, but it's just a nice feeling for the community to own its
own name.

Yeah, they may have spent a recognizable portion of $100 already, just
squatting.

Yeah, not a huge deal, but it would be nice. I actually still think that
csound.org is more important anyway, as csound is not a commercial product.
Reminder to Dr. B to point csound.org to csounds.com.

Let them continue spending.

Absolutely. ardour.com doesn't appear to be linked to Ardour. I
don't think going to csound.com will stop anyone from finding
csounds.com, especially since there are a couple links there to
csounds.com.
The ONLY way that squatter will make any return at all on the
csound.com domain is if the Csound community buys it from him; outside
of that, he loses money. The inverse of a monopoly- only one
potential customer. If the squatter doesn't like our terms, let them
throw money away. He has two choices- offer a lower price or make no
profit- and somehow sees a nonexistent third choice. Kind of funny.
