[Csnd] csound~ and Max 6

Subject[Csnd] csound~ and Max 6
Here's an amusing little stumbling block.

Having downloaded the trial version of Max 6 to my Mac, I wanted to try
running Csound in it as an external. The Floss Manual page on this topic
sent me off to a download location, where I grabbed csound~_v1.1.0_mac.zip.
This zip file contains, as it turns out, csound~_v2.0.0_double.pkg.

However, the .pkg installer refuses to install the required .mxo. Why?
Because it fails to detect Max 5, that's why.

Is there an updated version of the installer lurking somewhere? Or,
alternatively, could somebody who has successfully run the installer kindly
attach the .mxo file to a response to this message? Thanks!

I just discovered the same thing on my Windows machine. The external works with Max 6, so I guess Davis just have to update the installer it self to include Max 6 as a installation choice. To solve the problem, I just downloaded the Max 5 demo, installed csound~ and copied the external to Max 6 folder. I don't have the .mxo file here (being on my windows machine), but I can post it here tomorrow when I'm back on my Mac. Or if you don't want to wait, you can the same as me :)

Good suggestion, Bernt. Thanks!

I was afraid for a minute that installing version 5 had toasted my 30-day
trial of version 6, but after I ran the installer for 6 again, the trial
version woke up and was willing to play nice. It appears the csound~ object
is available -- it has inlets and outlets. Now to actually try using it....

Yes I had the same issue the other day and had to resort to manual
installation as suggested by Bernt.

I've uploaded the mxo-file and the help files to the PartikkelAudio website if there is anyone else who needs to install it manually before Davis gets a chance to update the installer.
