No, things would be equal -- both 32 bit and 64 bit sample versions running on 64 bit hardware, correct?

Yes.  I was thinking of "equal" meaning "status quo", which today 
typically implies 32-bit hardware, though that seems to be changing 
rapidly.  So I just misinterpreted your words -- or more exactly, I 
interpreted them idiosyncratically, with slightly humorous intent.
