Hello everyone! ...There is someone out there who has ever tried connected Csound and Reason - version 4 or later version 5 - (Propellerhead)? A rewire or something similar between the two programs ... thanks e |

Hi Enrico, No-one has tried because the Rewire protocol is secret (Propellerheads will only give the information to a selected few), so there is no way for anyone to add support for it in Csound... Cheers, Andrés On Fri, Aug 27, 2010 at 1:45 PM, Enrico Francioni |

There is however a way! But Mac and windows only. Csound~ and Maxmsp. Max supports rewire so a csound instrument inside Max will work. I understand that it costs to buy max so one of these days someone should make a standalone max application for this purpose. I didn't realise pd has rewire support! if PD has rewire support then it should not be difficult to implement it in Csound, since PD is Open Source and the 'mysteries' of rewire would be revealed... Pd definitely does not have ReWire support. But anyway, I started working on a Max patch a while ago that would basically act as a ReWire wrapper for Csound. It was actually pretty easy to make. The problem really just turned out to be that the ReWire data you get from Max isn't all that great to work with. There's an audio rate phasor that cycles every beat, and then there's a bunch of message rate data giving beat numbers, bars, etc. But they don't really sync up, so it's hard to use them together. It really kinda sucks! It does seem to me that Max users don't really take advantage of the ReWire support that much, and I think that's one of the reasons why. It's just not that intuitive. .mmb On 8/28/10 4:51 PM, Peiman Khosravi wrote: > I didn't realise pd has rewire support! > > P > > On 28 Aug 2010, at 22:46, Enrico Francioni wrote: > >> >> >> …but pd's free! >> >> e >> -- View this message in context: >> http://csound.1045644.n5.nabble.com/Csound-and-Reason-tp2739921p2795590.html >> >> Sent from the Csound - General mailing list archive at Nabble.com. >> >> >> Send bugs reports to the Sourceforge bug tracker >> https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=81968&atid=564599 >> Discussions of bugs and features can be posted here >> To unsubscribe, send email sympa@lists.bath.ac.uk with body >> "unsubscribe csound" >> > > > > Send bugs reports to the Sourceforge bug tracker > https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=81968&atid=564599 > Discussions of bugs and features can be posted here > To unsubscribe, send email sympa@lists.bath.ac.uk with body > "unsubscribe csound" > Send bugs reports to the Sourceforge bug tracker https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=81968&atid=564599 Discussions of bugs and features can be posted here To unsubscribe, send email sympa@lists.bath.ac.uk with body "unsubscribe csound" |

I see, to be fair I've never used rewire with Max. BTW what about midishare? http://midishare.sourceforge.net/ I know that openmusic uses it to communicate midi information between applications. Hi, AFAICS it's only MIDI. Rewire does audio too. Cheers, Andrés On Sun, Aug 29, 2010 at 10:10 AM, Peiman Khosravi |

Well audio can be passed on with Jack and soundflower easily anyway. Is there anyway to automations with rewire? P On 29 Aug 2010, at 11:48, Andres Cabrera wrote: > Hi, > > AFAICS it's only MIDI. Rewire does audio too. > > Cheers, > Andrés > > On Sun, Aug 29, 2010 at 10:10 AM, Peiman Khosravi > |

Hi, Yes, and MIDI can also be passed with jack and using IAC. I think what's special about rewire is that is an all-in-one package for MIDI, audio, sync and transport. Cheers, Andrés On Sun, Aug 29, 2010 at 10:55 AM, Peiman Khosravi |

If you get into live coding with ruby, you can use ruby on the mac to send midi from live ruby code to both reason and csound at the same time. The main guy who does live coding with ruby uses Reason as his sound module. On Sun, Aug 29, 2010 at 3:10 AM, Andres Cabrera |
