Subject[Csnd] and another AVSynthesis video
Greetings,

Mars Study #2

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ptWPFS96Wk

Another dark study, keep the lights down.

I know, I know, YouTube sucks. So download the thing instead, it's a
nice high-quality MP4. :)

Btw, my videos are of course created entirely with Linux audio/video
tools, including AVSynthesis (OpenGL + Csound) and Kdenlive.

Best,

dp

Wow. That's an interesting "talking-cello-flageolet" timbre, ...Martians talk.
thanks for sharing.

May I ask, is the sound made entirely in csound?

Very nice.

Yes. AVSynthesis employs Csound solely as its audio engine. However, I
can bring in external audio files to play via the WaveLoop instrument.
Those voices can then be processed just like any other instrument in the
performance.

Btw, I must note that the CSDs produced by AVS are of limited utility to
anyone not running the program. You can realize the CSD as a normal
Csound file, no problem there, but its internal organization may seem
somewhat opaque until you understand how AVS uses the CSD (i.e. be
prepared for a ton of f-tables).

I also want to point out that AVS currently includes four composition
methods: a step sequencer, an "analog" style sequencer, a piano-roll,
and an implementation of Cmask (with GUI). The AVS composition tools are
really wonderful.

Best,

dp

But how did you create those Martian voices?

With AVS's Chant and Vosim instruments, passed through Waveguide
filters. I'll try to find the CSD for that performance.
