Subject[Csnd] [OT] Ubuntu versions, some info
Dear All,
i was using Ubuntu 10.04. Recently, due to some problems i have made a fresh
installation of Ubuntu
using 11.04, but i had some trouble (i.e. WinXound don't work in 11.04, i
was able to build it with a few
change in src, but i'm not a programmer and i'm not sure if all is right),
and after some time i have reinstalled
Ubuntu 10.04. Now i have upgraded to 10.10 but seems than there are not
realtime kernel,
and now my question is: some of You using Ubuntu could tell me if upgrading
to version 11.04
is a good choice? Do You know of some problems?
I use mainly Csound, Lua, and WinXound.

Sorry for verbosity.
Ciao,
francesco.

I don't use ubuntu, but the voices tell me that a realtime kernel is
not needed anyway (as long as some config options are set). I use a
stock debian kernel and have no problem.

Hi Francesco,

i use KXStudio, an Kubuntu version with realtime kernel. It also supports
the Nvidia drivers if you happen to have such a card and it is actively
maintained. And it is 10.04 LTS, so it way be updated and maintained for the
next 2 years. I have a latency of 1.3 ms with the M-Audio Audiophile24/96,
working with Jack - KXStudio is Jack-based.
Have a look here if you like:

bye
