Hello list, Finally, after several years of "almost ready" and "soon to be released", I'm happy to announce that the Hadron Particle Synthesizer is indeed released. The current version runs as a Max for Live device, and of course there is a Csound orchestra version too (however, the GUI in FLTK does not look as snazzy as the M4L one ...) I guess it should be possible to build a GUI in Blue, and also in QuteCsound. I'd be happy to help anyone who rise to the challenge. We are working on a VST version too (currently alpha). The general news release with reference to the web page is pasted below. all best Oeyvind *** *** *** Partikkel Audio from Trondheim, Norway proudly presents the release of the Hadron Particle Synthesizer as a Max for Live device, and also in a version for use directly in Csound. Hadron Particle Synthesizer The Hadron Particle Synthesizer is your ultimate granular synthesis tool. It can seamlessly morph between different sound processing methods, so you can take the plugin gradually from being a synthesizer to an audio effect for live input. Focus on your music. The extreme flexibility of Hadron could have made it a quite complex device. The innovative user interface provides intuitive access to a very high number of control dimensions, this makes Hadron a breeze to play. The plugin is of course free and open source. You can expand your new sonic universe by buying expansion packs for Hadron at www.partikkelaudio.com Full text newsletter at http://www.partikkelaudio.com/press-hadron-released *** *** *** Send bugs reports to the Sourceforge bug tracker https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=81968&atid=564599 Discussions of bugs and features can be posted here To unsubscribe, send email sympa@lists.bath.ac.uk with body "unsubscribe csound" |

On windows 7 it is installed in /Program Files (x86), there is no application as such as it is a plugi. The current version is a Max For Live device, so it depends on both Max and Live. But you can run it as a Csound csd, see the file "readme_standalone.txt" for details
The Csound csd does not have the same sleek gui and automation facilities as the plugin, sorry about that. It will however sound the same. all best Oeyvind 2011/7/8 Super Pija <superpija2@yahoo.com> i installed it in windows 7 and can not find the application anywhere. i don't |

It should be Program Files (x86)/Hadron. Could it be that you're looking in "Program Files", not "Program Files (x86)" ? Oeyvind 2011/7/8 Marc D. Demers <mddemers@hotmail.com>

I've look at both Program Files and Program Files (x86). But, during the installation, the installer said «Nonstandard Max 5.0 dir». What does is means and it maybe the cause of the problem (can fin Hadron). mdd Date: Fri, 8 Jul 2011 14:17:00 +0200 From: oyvind.brandtsegg@ntnu.no To: csound@lists.bath.ac.uk Subject: Re: [Csnd] Hadron Particle Synthesizer finally released It should be Program Files (x86)/Hadron. Aha, yes, it will simply stop if it can't find Max. I should have realized that in the response to you previous post, sorry. If you don't have Max or Live and just want the Csound csd version, it makes more sense to use the "source code" download on http://www.partikkelaudio.com/downloads
You can unpack it anywhere you like and it relies only on a standard Csound installation. best Oeyvind 2011/7/8 Marc D. Demers <mddemers@hotmail.com>

On my side also, I should have noticed sooner. I've experimented the same problem (abort installation) with others softwares using Max runtime. Thank's to have replied so promptly. I'll try the source code during the weekend. I also want to say a hearty congratulations! For those that were not there, Oeyvind gave a great presentation and performance with Hadron at the Linux Audio Conference. The presentation video and slides are available at: http://lac.linuxaudio.org/2011/?page=program&mode=list The presentation gives a wonderful overview on all the granular/particle synthesis methods (pretty much Curtis Road's Microsound book in 40 minutes :) ), and helps to appreciate all of what went into Hadron. The live performance was very, very impressive and a memorable experience. Congratulations again on the release! On Fri, Jul 8, 2011 at 9:44 AM, Rory Walsh |

Hi Oeyvind, I'm playing around with the Hadron, very nice! But a couple of questions: 1-how does one create new "states"? 2-why not release a standalone max application too? This way one could use Hadron without live or max and also it would become possible to have a surround panner. Thanks! Can I also ask how have you implemented the vst version? I suspect it is not with max. Hello Peiman, Good to hear from you, and nice to hear you're playing with Hadron. The Max standalone is a good idea, I will bring it on to Bernt on our team, he's in charge of the Max programming. A Max standalone would make it more accessible to those who don't own Max, as they could use the Max runtime. We use a few of the M4L Max objects, so I guess we need to make a separate version of the patch for this. Sorry to say you can not create your own states yet. We are still working out how to make this available for end users. Now, if you want to hack it, look at the state files in /states, they are basically Csound ftable dumps and can be edited as text. Save them with new names and your custom states will be loaded next time you start Hadron. The parameter ordering can be found in /inc/parameterNumbering.inc, so e.g. Grain Rate is set on line 33 in a .spst file (the 8th parameter value). The vst version is made with JUCE, much like Rory's framework for Csound VSTs. best Oeyvind 2011/7/26 peiman khosravi |

Thanks very much for the detailed reply Oeyvind. I shall play around with the state files and see what I come up with! I am eventually also look into JUCE, when I have time to learn proper programming, would love to expand the max stanalone applications to VSTs.
