[Csnd] ampdbfs values

Subject[Csnd] ampdbfs values
Hi All,

After many years of using regular old ampdb, I'm starting to use
ampdbfs and 0dbfs=1.  I'm trying to gauge what are good values to use;
I've been using values around -9 for a max for a note to give some
space to work with many notes, but I'm wondering if that's maybe too
much? Since I'm using blue I can use the mixer faders to adjust per
instrument but I thought I'd ask what range of values people tend to
use so I can get a rough idea of where to start so that I won't have
to adjust too much from the mixer.

Thanks!
steven

I use a range from about -60 to -10 usually. I generally start out making average ampdbfs values around -30 with default blue mixer setting of 0db.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the input! I think my instrument needs some balancing out
as I'm tending to get some quieter output than expected even when
using -9. It's got a chorus effect built into the instrument that is
killing the overall amp and I need to figure a way to boost
corresponding to amount of chorus I think. Otherwise, I think I may
need to add some kind of test tone generator to blue so that I can do
better referencing while working.

As a sidenote: does anyone have a CSD they use for this kind of thing?
Or just listen to other music files to get a general reference?

Thanks!
steven
