I didn't recognize anything this guy's email window. Thought I should pick your guys brains about this, since you might know what to do with him. Consult you about it and nip him in the bud before his spam gets out of hand. Didn't look like a Csound person I recoginized, so I came to first, and that you might wantt to see what it was before deleting his deriere. -Partev =========================================================== --- dfkettle@gmail.com wrote: From: David |

Welcome to the internet. >From reading some of the google forums its seems most people are getting hacked (ie their passwords leak into the hands of spammers) by accessing their accounts on open WiFi networks using insecure protocols like POP and IMAP (ie send username/ password in clear text) from portable devices like iPhones. This is insane, because there a secure SSL encypted versions of both the POP and IMAP protocols. Erik |

In my dad's case, the hacker got the password and was trying to impersonate him -- stuck in Spain, needing money, etc, etc... It was all transparent, and amusing -- and my dad got to catch up with all his old friends as one by one they called to see what was up, lol. He had a great time. I'm on the NET since 1993 and it was the first time I get spammed. The only thing they have time to done has been spamming the pd list and the Csound list... mdd > From: andy.fillebrown@gmail.com > Date: Wed, 16 Mar 2011 02:09:22 -0400 > To: csound@lists.bath.ac.uk > CC: mle+la@mega-nerd.com > Subject: Re: [Csnd] how are you > > In my dad's case, the hacker got the password and was trying to > impersonate him -- stuck in Spain, needing money, etc, etc... > It was all transparent, and amusing -- and my dad got to catch up with > all his old friends as one by one they called to see what was up, lol. > He had a great time. > > > > On Tue, Mar 15, 2011 at 11:27 PM, Erik de Castro Lopo > <mle+la@mega-nerd.com> wrote: > > Marc D.
