Hi all, First, I recently discovered 'Portable Apps' (www.portableapps.com) and was surprised to see some large programs (Open Office) are available in that format. I wondered if a) csound can be run from a thumb drive like a portable app, and b) if not, has anyone considered trying to package it as one? And how about front ends? Second, since gvim IS available as a portable app, and I recall sometime ago that someone posted info about adding csound highlighting, etc. capabilities to it, would they be so kind as to re post the info so I can use it? Thanks, Bob Foose Send bugs reports to the Sourceforge bug tracker https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=81968&atid=564599 Discussions of bugs and features can be posted here To unsubscribe, send email sympa@lists.bath.ac.uk with body "unsubscribe csound" |

Yes, it works fine: my own front end Surmulot includes csound, emacs, squeak, timidity within a plain folder that can be located anywhere, including a USB key. You can have multiple versions without conflict. That's how I like software. It's actually rather easy to do; the system just have to define and refer to its own versions of the required environment variables. Which is why I do not like environment variables :) Stef Send bugs reports to the Sourceforge bug tracker https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=81968&atid=564599 Discussions of bugs and features can be posted here To unsubscribe, send email sympa@lists.bath.ac.uk with body "unsubscribe csound" |

Excellent!! Thank you Stephane. As for Surmolot, I recently downloaded it (about a week ago), and find it very interesting, at least in the limited overview I've had so far. I suppose I should dvote some time to exploring emacs, now, too. Don't hesitate to complain about missing/badly written documentation if you feel stuck somewhere ! Documentation is the hardest thing to provide correctly, which make user feedback priceless. A new pre-release of Surmulot is on its way BTW (possibly this week).
