[Csnd] Cecilia 4 question...

Subject[Csnd] Cecilia 4 question...
I downloaded the latest version of Cecilia 4 and have been trying
to get it to run (on WinXP).

When I start it, I select my audio device and load AdditiveSynth.cec
I get a lot of "no legal opcode" that appear in the console window
and then it crashes.

Is there something I am missing?

Thanks,
Anthony

I installed Csound5.12.1-gnu-win32-d.exe and tested it

When I try to run AdditiveSynth.cec I still get an error (see bellow).

Unchecking the toggle "Input Device", now allows me to hear audio.

Preview command shows the following...
-d --format=short:wav -b 2048 -B 4096 -o dac2 -+rtaudio=PortAudio -+rtmidi=PortMidi -M 0

It would appear that the "dac2" setting comes from the menu selection under
the file/preferences, and does not correspond to the actual dac listing that
csound is aware of.

In the Editor window, there is a little menu over the Score panel that let you choose between standard score or Python score. AdditiveSynthesis.cec has examples of Python score. In the Help menu, there is the manual for the python commands to generate csound scores (Using Cecilia's inteface -> python scripting).

Hi,

Can you check the option "Preview command" to see if the audio device is correct (-o flag)? Also, Csound is in duplex mode, if you don't use live input, It can help if you uncheck the toggle "Input Device" in Cecilia preferences...

Okay I have finally taken the doubles plunge!
I installed Csound5.12.1-gnu-win32-d.exe and tested it
with Winxound, it seems to work fine.

When I try to run AdditiveSynth.cec I still get an error (see bellow).
Also, Cecilia will not select the audio device I tell it to. It
keeps on selecting Primary Sound Driver.

My environment is WinXP.

Yes, this is the good one! Cecilia4 running from sources can uses floating-point version of Csound. But the installer uses double version.

I don't understand, in the csound's list of drivers from your previous mail, "Primary Sound Driver" is the number 2. Which one is selected in the preferences menu? If you want to do some tests, you can edit the preview command before starting Csound...

But for me it is the reverse. Cecilia_4.2_beta_OSX.dmg seems to
contain the floating point frameworks:

~ peimankh$ /Applications/Cecilia.app/Contents/Frameworks/CsoundLib.framework

In order to use the doubles I need to run Cecilia from source, which I
am doing at the moment.

SubjectRe: [Csnd] Re: Cecilia 4 question...
On OSX, if I build the bundle with Csound double framework, Cecilia always crashes at the application startup. Double works fine from sources and floating-point framework works well in both cases...

On Windows, Cecilia 4.2 uses the double Csound, anyway, it's the only installer available!
