Subject[Csnd] wii opcodes in Debian version
Hello !

I may be wrong but the wii opcodes are missing from my debian version :
Csound version 5.13 (?chantillons en format double) Feb 21 2011

Is there any copyright reason for that ?

Thanks

A little dated but htto://www.codemist.co.uk/jpff/32 contains wii opcodes
for 32bit architecture/linux. If that does not work on debian let me know
and I will build. I have a slow debian machin eon which i build csound
sometimes

No. The issue is that the wii library used is not available for debian
(yet). Should it become available, feel free to bug me about it and I
will enable it.

Thank you both for your replies.

What do people do, on Debian, when they want to use a wiimote ?

If you are brave enough, you can try providing a debian package of
wiiuse. I can sponsor it if it is of good quality. If you go that way,
then the distro-provided debian packages can be configured to build
the wii opcodes.

It looks like ubuntu people have already packaged this:

    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/319456

WOudl be trivial to tweak the packaging for Debian. In fact it
would be nice if the Ubuntu people did this.

Mea culpa. I didn't read down far enough. They are indeed trying
to push this into Debian. Just looking for a sponsor.

If someone can see Joel's email there, please tell him to contact me
(or give me his email address). Launchpad apparently doesn't like to
give addresses to strangers.

There is nothing irritating about Drweski's post.

Nice piece. The use of repetition, drone and bird-like utterances remind me of Bayle's music.

Good stereo image.

The last section feels a little long to me. Particularly one can predict the fading out at the end before it happens. Some sort of surprise just before the end would therefore be welcome.

Best,

Peiman

Thanks Peiman for the comment.

Bayle has been an great influence on me.
If the last part is predictable, it's a problem. It's always the big question of how a piece should end (or begin).

Thanks for the attention

Thanks for posting, it's always nice to hear new pieces. I liked the
piece although I got kind of lost in the mid-section. I wouldn't worry
about that however, I'm listening to too much pop music these days and
it's starting to cloud my appreciation of development and structure on
any piece over 4 minutes! Did you write the entire piece with Csound
or did you create some material and then edit and piece it together
using a DAW? So many people use Csound in so many different ways that
it's also nice to hear how others go about creating music with it.
Anyhow, thanks again for posting.

Hi,

Excuse me for my english first.

Composing with Csound from A to Z require very special aptitudes that not many people have. It is very difficult to make the link in ones head between math logic and music, but when you're starting getting it, it makes you much more free on the creation of sounds in space and time related between them. I guess that it require to have the idea of the piece ready before starting composing.
I admire a lot that way of creating but it's not the way I choose.
I use Csound a lot to synthesize sound : to build a catalogue of sound before the act of composing. Once it is done I don't open csound anymore. I use protools to structure the sounds in space and time . sometimes I use Csound to spatialize the sound "au hazard" when it require so.

I'm going to contact archive.org about having a csound composers
channel where you can post in flac, mp3 and ogg and have a creative
commons license for it.

I'm surprised by the number of people who report problems with
soundcloud. It's a pity cos I quite like the interface and ease of
use. Anyhow, no harm to have something on archive.org, the more places
we can share Csound music the better.

Rory.

Basically, because I'm on dial-up on an old P2 linux machine.

The page alone takes close to 10 minutes to load.
So I can download fine, but not stream.

Slight apologies here, folks.  I have other machines, but not
audio-enabled units on-line.

Thank for the comment, I actuality did an alternative version, and I'm not quite sure witch version I'll end up with.

Thanks

Its great, Nicolas. and I think you're very much on the
right track. Great new sounds, good spatialization.

I generally agree with Peiman's comments, except about
the overall structure or shape for which I have no advice or
comment.  The possible Bayle-GRM like sound or influence,
I welcome.

"What is music"  (as per the recent long-running thread
here)  -  indeed.

Thanks again.
