Subject[Csnd] modeling a hang drum ?
Greetings,

Can anyone suggest a starting point for Csound synthesis of an
instrument called a hang drum, as shown here:

A friend has asked about it and I'm not sure where he might start.

TIA,

dp

I would have thought a combination of either additive or modal +
filtered noise for the noisier attack potions.

BTW this guy is great!

Sounds like a job for the 'mode' opcode.

The Hang is a very interesting instrument, thanks for bringing it to our attention!

I've had nice results with the mode opcode where I replaced the often
used pulse with a short burst of noise, linearly decreasing, for a few
hundredths of a second. Of course the hardest part to imitate the
instrument is to find the modal frequencies.
