Cool article,... have some vague memory of hearing that Tron story through the grapevine back then. Always favored the Ampex tapes up until Quantegy bought them out. We used it for a while for the ADAT format, but there were drop-out and shedding problems, so we went with a special BASF for our store bought pre-formatted ADAT-VHS (20-bit VHS for digital audio). Used to be an ADAT repair technician at Alesis, and Eddie Ciletti was one of the intra-net administrators and tech heads working from Minneapolis-St Paul area (where he is these days). My boss linked me up with Eddie four days after starting at Alesis. That was in October 2000,... Eddie and have been in touch ever since, doing our mutual brain picking. Fun stuff. -Partev ============================================================ --- jacobjoaquin@gmail.com wrote: From: Jacob Joaquin |

20 bit ADAT - heh heh - you're so advanced :-) I'm still on the 16 bit 'Blackface' ADAT - if it's left on overnight, it works fine! Otherwise: "Err 7" "Err 7" "Err 7" "Err 7" all day..............
