[Csnd] Header Question

Subject[Csnd] Header Question
The Macintosh installer version of Csound does not include headers in the installation. What is the standard include path for Csound so I can manually install the headers for building Loris?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

The OSX installer does include all the Csound header files you'll
need. Where to find them is another issue! The OSX guys will know. In
the meantime maybe you can just search for csound.h?

Hi,

The best way to use the csound library on OS X is to use the flag
-framework CsoundLib (or something to that effect). This will find
both the headers and the libraries.

Cheers,
Andres

Thank you all for your response. This helps. What is the default location of the headers on Linux? I can symlink this directory, but I believe that Loris is looking for this location and does not let you specify the header path.

Subject[Csnd] Re: Header Question
I'm also looking for the "default" header location on Linux (Debian) if
any...

I'm inclined to think there is not a default location, as the FLOSS manual
only list the exact location for an OSX build. I don't understand the
reason for not having a default location, but after sudo su, apt-get install
csound, and find / -iname "*csound*.h"

I have found the plugins directory (/usr/lib/csound/plugins64-5.2), but I
cannot find any source files on my system. (csound works fine)

Is it possible that apt-get install never placed these files on my system at
all??

Compiling opcode plugins requires "csdl.h"... Im wondering If I cant just
download some headers, like the ones included in the framework on OSX and
give it a shot becuase I do have libcsound64.so.5.2 on my debian system.

Thanks for any and all input!!

If you want the headers you need to install libcsound64-dev

On most Linux systems, the default for headers for system packages is /usr/include, and the default for locally built packages is /usr/local/include.
