From what I've read and from what I've gotten from Smith, the digital
waveguide is a foundation of modeling. Makes modeling computationally
viable with DSP engines of a dozen years ago.
The specifics of how Line 6 does it,.... would be able to say, and if
I was, it's a corner of the product they wouldn't let me be privy to,
especially since I don't write any of their DSP codes.
Waveguides are good for emulating or modeling a host of things. Check
