Johann

"WTS",.... wow, almost forgot about that one. I used to hear that
on a good LP system, full range audio. Could it be headphone EQ,
or is it a re-mixed/re-mastered/re-issue recording? Not MP3 is it?

Brassy sound,... I was reminded that a noise generator and modulation
with an LFO was used on those Moog modular systems. I have the
soft-synth version, Aturia's "Moog Modular V". Sounds really close
to the analog version. Not bad for a soft-synth. In Csound I would
try one of the noise opcodes and an LFO to get that blowing thru
the mouthpiece quality. Happy hunting.

Didn't Carlos do a version of the Brandenburg Concerti on the Moog
synth, or was that someone else?

Cheers,
-Partev

Oh, speaking of Switched-on Bach and The Well Tempered Synthesizer,
I'm listening to the latter right now through headphones and, oh my it
is bright. It's great to have lots of high harmonics, really brings
things alive, that's a critical part of acoustic music too---but I
think perhaps this album was originally intended for speakers, or
perhaps compensating for the high-frequency losses that an LP would
suffer.

My headphones (the AKG K601) are not a bright headphone, either. But
I think they give me higher resolution in the upper octaves than I
would get through basic speakers.

Yes, Wendy released an album with all the Brandenburgs. That album,
plus "Switched-on Bach," "Switched-on Bach II", and "The Well-tempered
Synthesizer" (or maybe it's Switch-on Bach 2000 rather than WTS) is in
a CD set called "Switched-on Box Set" which apparently has lavish
production values. I hope to get one soon.
