[Csnd] pops on startup/shutdown

Subject[Csnd] pops on startup/shutdown
I'm using Windows XP and just installed 5.12. It's been a while since
I used CSound, so I don't know what version I was using a while back
(maybe about a year). Anyway, I'm getting pops through the speakers
when csound starts and stops. I created an orc/sco that played no
sound at all, and the pops were still there. They are not huge, but
annoying. A "pop" is not the way you want to end a composition. I
don't think I had this problem several versions ago. I'm using an
external soundcard (the Bithead from Headroom.com), which is a basic
USB DAC. Can someone point me to parameters or things that might
improve this?
Thanks.

With the internal soundcard on my laptop, I sometimes have pops when
starting and stopping playback in a normal wave editor (soundforge).
I guess this might be related to the soundcard/driver handling of
buffers, maybe you could try with another sound card to see if the
problem still is there then.
I think this is not Csound related, but soundcard/driver related.

Perhaps it is PortAudio related. Try with the Windows multimedia
driver instead of the PortAudio driver, also.

Hope this helps,
Mike
