I created "singing" music using csound, with some good results.
All the .csd and midi source is on the page below.
If anyone is interested in more details than I give on this page, let me 
know.

Briefly, using the csound op code, I create a model "singing" 
instrument, that replaces the voice midi instruments in a midi song.
The rest of the instruments are created using the fluid synth engine.

Examples rendered as .mp3 are given for:

Star trek TOS theme song with female vocal "ah ah...".

Nirvana "Lithium" with "wah wah" singing.
