| Those Aussie XO's do indeed seem to be 1.5's, though it is difficult to tell
because the 1.0 and 1.5 exterior is virtually identical. I understand that
the hardware is very similar as well. The only obvious difference is a 2.0
amp power supply instead of a 1.25.
Software is however definitely upgraded; it contains Sugar 0.84 and includes
an alternative Gnome desktop. (I believe it is a customized Fedora11
distribution.)
I recently received an XO-1.5 after requesting it as a developer. Thorin, I
see no reason you couldn't get one as well. I'm looking forward to trying
out your new activity; it looks fascinating.
The new (csound) project I'm about to embark on will certainly manifest
itself as another XO/SoaS activity as well.

I understood the OLPC's in Australia were XO 1.5's. Which I think
means an upgrade in hardware, linux, Sugar and - if version of sugar
is the same as the one used on SOAS, uses csound 5.10 (rather 5.08).
Now to blow my own trumpet... if you happen to have an XO, or runs
SOAS, try out my new activity:
http://activities.sugarlabs.org/en-US/sugar/addon/4290
Yes it uses Csound.
I too have never had communication regarding user problems, despite a
suspicious number of downloads.
