Subject[Csnd] hetro
Hello people,

i have started my work to check out the manual and make a list of opcodes
that do not have an example that work out-of-the-box or other problems. (I
will publish this list here and hope that we can work together to get a more
complete manual)
But there is an issue with adsyn i believe and i want to report that right
away. Hetro analysis produces a list of values allright, but when playing
back with adsyn i get some sort of phasing noise. I tried several samples.
ATM i work with XP, csound5.11, double precision.

Menno,

Many thanks for working on improving the manual.

I recently noticed that there are no examples in the manual for these
opcodes:

fin
fini
fink
fouti
fiopen
ficlose
clear
vincr
foutk
foutir

(fout has two examples)

best,
Lou Cohen

Hello Lou,

yes i do what i can. Because i am not a developer and can not understand
opcodes that have no examples i simple need them to give me a starting
point. I "see" the power of Csound but Csound is composed of the work of
many individuals who wrote an opcode because they saw the need of that
opcode, not always considering 100 per cent other people who are less gifted
with coding capabilities. So i need those work-right-out-of-the-box
examples!
I am going from A to Z and work my way trough in portions of 3 letters. I'm
still working on trying to get examples for the letters D-F but for some
opcodes i can not in any way provide examples myself. I will try to contact
those who wrote them back then.

Thanks for your support and your list - some of them are already on my
"black list" :)

I truly appreciate the efforts of everyone who contributes to csound.
I consider myself a composer, certainly not a developer, and I don't
know how I could write and perform the music I do without csound.

As for the manual, my approach has been that if I cannot figure out
how to use an opcode, either by example or intuition, then I simply
forget about it and work with the opcodes I understand -- which is
probably equivalent to using csound as it was 10 years ago. But
there's so much there! and I can do so much with it!

Still, it would be great to understand the recent developments and to
be able to take advantage of them...

best,
Lou
