That is a nice sentiment. I understand the hierarchical nature of this
list and am not bothered by the mixture of arcane and general
discussion. However I have had difficulties with this board for a long
time. I frequently post questions that get no answers.
I am not even sure if anyone but me sees them.
Perhaps I'm too ignorant of the way this board works. But I have participated
in dozens of discussion boards, and not a single one of them
is like this one.
I am supposedly signed up for this list. When I post my question,
I get a message that it has been sent to csound@lists.bath.ac.uk
I then get a message in my email that the message is "pending
approval." But sometimes it nonetheless shows up in the list, at least
from my view. Eventually, I just forget about it. Oddly, sometimes
my question is responded to.
I know this is a venerable list and has been used for probably
decades, but does anyone but me find it cumbersome and arcane?
I see threads which I try to follow, and suddenly a completely
new topics shows up in the middle. Often it's a "re:" for which I
can't find the original.
If you feel that this is all strictly my own personal problem, feel
free to ignore.
Cheers,
Tim S.
