I especially like the suggestion by Richard(?) where users of Csound explain how, with what software and to what end users employ the program. Although I have some experience w coding and csound- I am starting as a beginner and am slightly overwhelmed. Also, I am looking for an audio interface to eventually use w Csound and other projects(I dont even have Qutecsound on my ubuntu netbook yet). Will I run into problems with sample rates and the like? Everything was 44.1khz when I was using the program yet now I find many interface to have various sample rates.
I would also be very grateful if anyone could let me know what schools in the US offer classes with Csound
I was considering buying the following interface:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/tascam-us144-interface-and-990-991-mic-pack-bundle/241736000000000
I am looking for something within this price range for use with Linux...   any suggestions are warmly appreciated.

Csound does not give you any trouble in terms of setting the sr, I use
it at 96k and have been doing so for 3 years (on osx). But since
you're on ubuntu you may have compatibility issues with the interface
itself (nothing to do with Csound). I assume you'll need to get Jack
running in real-time first (on a real-time kernel?). I hear that the
focusrite interfaces are well supported on linux. As long as your
interface is running with other applications then there is no reason
why it shouldn't do so with Csound.
