I have the 8030A GENELC that costs around £800. I got it 2 years ago  
so probably much cheeper these days. But I would personally recommend  
going one step up in price range if you can. I have had to waste a  
lot of time travelling back and forth the studio since I miss a lot  
when mixing on my monitors at home, particularly in the low frequency  
end I have had a lot of distortions that are not audible on my system.

I invested in a pair of Genelec 1029As as an indulgence when I started to
build a personal studio in 1998, and never regretted it.  I adore them. 
We also use 1029A an 1029B speakers at the university.  No idea about US
prices, but looking at a UK supplier the Yamaha HS50M is about half the
price of the Genelec 6010A (£110.92 versus £197.40)

Shame that the 1029A is no longer made.....
