It can certainly collect sound from a microphone and write it to file. While 
it does that, it can generate sound as well. Not sure if it can write both 
separately (I'm quite a newbie) but there probably is a diskout operator 
like there's a diskin one, so methinks yes.

Thanks all for answering my post, it was no problem using "in" and "fout" to
write a file to disk. The other instruments are playing along just fine,
just what i wanted, great!
Since i'm a user of Blue i can use "diskin2" to get the recorded file back
into Blue. Maybe there is a way to do this automatically that when the
recording is finished, the file will be entered by "diskin2" - don't know
yet.  But at the moment this will do the job nicely.
