[Csnd] Wiimotes

Slightly off topic but this week I returned to my wiimotes as a controller for csound. I renewed the batteries -- they were dead after quite a long time unused -- but I have failed to get it to turn on. Does it need a Bluetooth signal to start? I suspect I had now such device o at the time. Thanks for any insight. I don't think it needs a bluetooth signal to start, you should get some lights when you turn it on. Victor Lazzarini Dean of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Philosophy Maynooth University Ireland > On 22 Sep 2018, at 13:35, John ff |

The four blue lights on the front tell you how much power is left in the batteries - they go solid when you have a connection. And yes, they connect via BlueTooth. So you need to pair with the device. Sent from my iPad > On Sep 22, 2018, at 9:09 AM, Victor Lazzarini |

Either I have a broken wiimote or trouble with batteries as when I push the on button nothing happens; no lights at all. And I am not sure about Bluetooth on my laptop. I think it is on but I do not know how to check. It seems very different from my previous computer in this area. Which prompts me to ask about using an OSC control from a tablet, and which if any of the android apps I should try. There seem many with limited information as to what they do. Hi John, I really like the idea behind Open Stage Control (osc.ammd.net). If you have Chrome installed you can try the online demo at that website. Otherwise, there's a free app for Android by Charlie Roberts called Control that works fine. Cheers. 2018-09-22 17:19 GMT-03:00, John ff |

After a significant check on batteries it seems clear that my wiimote is dead -- no lights when pressing ON or anything else. I looked at Open Stage Control but it looks too complex for me to understand. Could not see what addresses/host/port it used to send OSC messages and the editing used some language I do not know. It certainly looks like a crafted piece of software, but hard to use. I looked for the free app for Android by Charlie Roberts; it took time to find and it is not in he play store, so have not tried it. Documentation suggests I need to learn JavaScript before getting anywhere. Oh well! Was a good idea ==John ff On Sat, 22 Sep 2018, Guillermo Senna wrote: > Hi John, > > I really like the idea behind Open Stage Control (osc.ammd.net). Oh, sorry for the trouble. I should have been more explicit. Regarding Open Stage Control, if you still want to give it a go: you have to install the .deb from here (https://github.com/jean-emmanuel/open-stage-control/releases), launch it. Set the OSC "send"(to) address and then press Start. Now you'll be able to access the interfaces through Chrome/ium and you'll get what you see in the demo. Inside the web browser, right-click on the screen and left-click on "Add Widget". You'll have a list to choose from all the possible widgets. Then, on the right side of the screen, at the bottom of the inspector you'll find the OSC "address" field with something like "/fader_1". You can also override the "ip:port" pair you set earlier by using the "target" field. And that's it, just Save them for afterwards before closing the web browser. Regarding Control, I might have had to build Control myself, but I don't remember doing that. Maybe it was in the play store, but now it's definitely not anymore. If you manage to build it from github (https://github.com/charlieroberts/Control), then the interfaces are written in JSON. You've probably already seen this intro (http://charlie-roberts.com/Control/?page_id=32). Also, here's the JSON for one with a button and a slider as an example (http://www.charlie-roberts.com/Control/interfaces/slider.js). It's a hassle, but at least it's MIT-licensed! Cheers.
