Did you try the 'Auto Search ' paths option in Settings? If WinXound doesn't find Csound then you don't have Csound in the usual location and you will need to provide the path to Csound yourself. Auto-Search usually always works. On 4 May 2011 20:19, cameron bobro <misterbobro@yahoo.com> wrote:

That's probably because you're not using the right command. Go to "Tools" menu and make sure "Use WinXound Flags" is checked then in the toolbar click on "Compile (Add. Flags)" and select "realtime output". Alternatively change your csd header to something like this and render as normal: <CsoundSynthesizer> <CsOptions> -odac -d </CsOptions> <CsInstruments> On 4 May 2011 20:44, cameron bobro <misterbobro@yahoo.com> wrote:

It does sound as if the problem is with Csound, though, if QuteCsound is crashing too. But does it work from the command-line? This will gives us an idea about where the problem is. It's very unusual, because something like this would certainly have been reported before if it was a major issue with the released binaries. Victor On 4 May 2011, at 21:17, cameron bobro wrote:

Launch command prompt and navigate to the directory with your files using cd and dir. Then simply call csound and pass it the name of your file. Something like this: C:\Documents and Settings\Rory>csound test.csd If you've any problems navigating directories in command prompt check this out http://html.megalink.com/webmaster/tut/basicdos2.html On 4 May 2011 22:14, cameron bobro <misterbobro@yahoo.com> wrote:

I guess you can try this: 1) open the command-line 2) type csound if you get "command not found", then you will need to set your system PATH to include the csound directory (in my computer -> environment variables) otherwise if you get some csound error message, you're good to go, carry on: 3) go to where your CSD is, say it's in. c:\documents\csound files > cd "C:\documents\csound files" 4) run csound from there with the options you want in the command-line, for instance, for a csound to run mycsd.csd > csound mycsd.csd -d -o dac Victor On 4 May 2011, at 22:14, cameron bobro wrote:

Subject | [Csnd] Late wish list suggest Was: LAC |
Good luck and best wishes to all Csound attendees at LAC ! Stay in touch with this list or webcast, if you can. While the jpff wish-list may now be closed for further consideration, here's a suggestion; Given the issues Cameron has had recently, and some reoccurring queries from others, might there be a case for including some hardware interrogation or testing as an option for startup. Some occur already, but could this be enhanced or more actively tested for in some modules ? I suppose I am thinking of -z2 or -zverbose command line option, where some active testing of the hardware and software environments takes place and is reported on. Candidate modules where test results might be helpful, could be, - Realtime IO options, CPU speed, -B -b suggestions - FLTK version and operability - MIDI IO options and operability - Related Environment variables reported back as seen - ALSA, PortAudio, PortMIDI operation An opportunity to code some Testing or Debug results into the executable, which doesn't effect runtime. Just a thought. On Wed, 04 May 2011 21:18:04 +0100, Victor Lazzarini |

Not cheap I agree, but really compared to the cost of my good guitars I don't consider it in any way out of line. And if your goal is only for use in recording, the Pico for 459 Sterling is probably all you need. I think this might be the problem:
unless your " SoundMAX HD Audio" driver is ASIO (it is not likely to be as it does not say on the label), this is not really going to work. 128 samples is too small a buffer for MME. You can try two things: 1) get ASIO4all (which will give you an ASIO device) 2) set -b and -B to more realistic values for MME, like -b1024 -B2048 or larger. From your messages, it looks like Csound is hanging, because there are no instrument allocation messages. Victor On 5 May 2011, at 00:12, cameron bobro wrote:

maybe you can show us here the CSDs that do not work. Do you say playing files from a ftable does not work, but an ordinary oscillator reading a single-waveform table does? That is strange since these two things involve pretty much the same operations. Did you try different alternative opcodes (e.g. diskin2 instead of diskin etc.)? I know you're short on time, but I'd be very grateful if you can elaborate on the report so it can be fixed. What version of csound are you using? what version of QuteCsound? Are you sure you matched doubles-floats between them? Is it crashing at startup or when pressing the run button? Is there any crash message? Just to be certain can you try this csd please? You should get 11 seconds of silence and 10 seconds of white noise. CCRMA presentation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjVym8s8bNg&feature=player_embedded An interesting, informative, and often very funny presentation which touches on the EigenD open sourcing and OSC. Some very interesting information about Eigenlabs future plans with OSC is given by Geert Bevin. One further thought about cost: even just considered as a midi controller with strip controller, breath controller, and aftertouch, the Pico is pretty darn good deal.
