[Csnd] Hans Mikelson's old 'Kick Drum 2' no longer works...

Subject[Csnd] Hans Mikelson's old 'Kick Drum 2' no longer works...
In Csound6, last I tried, Hans Mikelson's 'Kick Drum 2' from this link no longer worked:

https://www.cosc.brocku.ca/Offerings/4P98/gallery/csound/Winter08/ak02hn/Night.orc

It used to produce a nice bass-drum sound, which I used for my own composition from several years ago, "Pulops and Laugua's Big Adventure"......so I'm naturally concerned when legacy scores don't work anymore!

Can someone amongst you fine developers check this out and let me know the fix?

Thanks!

I heard some bass drum come in, then I got massive samples out of
range just now am have got a bit of a ear ache now. :(

What exactly is happening for you? Is it not making a sound? Making a
different sound?

careful with those ears....csound can be deadly when it goes ballistic....I'm pretty sure I've sustained hearing damage from it and other loud sounds over the years.

To answer your question: I think last I checked, it made a vague soft thump, then nothing...

Hi Aaron,

I tested again with Csound 5.19.02 and the same results as what I got
with Csound6 (renders, then crazy out of range samples). What version
of Csound 6 are you using? Also, any ideas on when you last remember
this working for you? I wonder if the issue ranges back to something
in CS5 even.

Not sure but did you try setting kr=sr?

I am running 5.11 and it seems to work OK. I had to decrease the overall amplitude a bit because there were a couple samples out of range. I had to feed it through a sub to hear it OK. Nice bass.

I will try and see if it's just a simple setting kr=sr thing...Hans, is this an inherently 'unstable' instrument?

I think the last version I used to compile my piece that used this instrument was something around v5.19....

You could comment out the final output and change it to output from the first oscillator...then work down.  For example

  outs asig*iamp,asig*iamp

Then try the next asig.

I didn't see anything too bad about it, most of the op codes are just oscil and standard filters.  I use tanh for distortion which might want kr=sr.  I'm using rezzy with a very low frequency to create a wobbly envelope which is a bit unusual maybe.
