do You know if csound6 will be part of the next release of Ubuntu?

Does the existing Csound6 package have to be updated for every new
release of Ubuntu?

If he means the 5.something version in the software center, i think that one
could be updated, so that people who are new to linux and building from
source don't have such a hard time, until they figure out all the kinks. Of
course that's just my opinion, since i'm not the one doing the actual job.

Hm... Maybe i'm just mixing it with the old qutecsound version. Sorry if
that's the case. Though a description with the version number could be
useful.

As far as I can see (checking packages.ubuntu.com and packages.debian.org) the testing branch of debian contains binary packages for csound 6.02 as does the upcoming ubuntu 14.04 'trusty', whereas current ubuntu (13.10 'saucy') contains csound 5.17.

Anders

If by that you mean Unbuntu 14.04 "Trusty", then yes.

It would seem Trusty Tahr will be released in about five days, and since it's repositories already contain csound 6.02 it will also be part of that release.
