Hello All, an experiment using spirograph curves mapped to waveshaping instruments (1 instrument every 3 equation/curves for 6 coefficients, 1 for x position and 1 for y). Waveshaper by chebyshevpoly. https://vimeo.com/66270615 Thanks, ciao, francesco. -- View this message in context: http://csound.1045644.n5.nabble.com/OT-a-new-masterpiece-more-or-less-tp5723564.html Sent from the Csound - General mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Very nice, can I ask how you generated the graphics? On 15 May 2013 22:07, francesco |

Sure. And it's overcomplicated because my poor programming skills. It's a Lua script that use IUP graphics library. It save 1 image/frame with a timer set circa every 40 ms (25 fps). There are two processes 1 for entire curve and 1 only for tracking points. At the same time Lua calls Csound to perform the csd in realtime using channels and the wave file is by fout opcode. Then using avconv program the script render two films from jpeg images and then i make a final mixing with those two films and audio. But then again i had taken 5 films and mixed together for final video. That is because after 3 minutes spirograph sound tend to be boring! Like i said overcomplicated. Thanks for listening. ciao, francesco. -- View this message in context: http://csound.1045644.n5.nabble.com/OT-a-new-masterpiece-more-or-less-tp5723564p5723567.html Sent from the Csound - General mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Thanks for the info. That sounds like quite a process, but when it turns out this well it's all worth while. It reminds me a little of Norman McLaren, more so in its simplicity than anything else. And by simplicity I'm referring to the generated graphics rather than the process behind it! On 15 May 2013 23:31, francesco |

Really nice. I've used spirgoraphs for composing, but nothing like this! I didn't do graphics, and I didn't use waveshaping instruments, and I just didn't do anything this cool. One question, did you use plain Lua, or LuaJIT? Regards, Mike On Wed, May 15, 2013 at 6:54 PM, Victor Lazzarini <Victor.Lazzarini@nuim.ie> wrote: Well done, francesco. Thanks All. To Mr. Gogins: if You mean the Lua interpreter i use LuaJIT, or do You mean somethings different? Of course one inspiration is Your work! For example the use of Strange Attractors, or IFS, or the tutorial on algorithmic composition. And thanks for let me know about Lua. Some years ago i was starting study a little bit programming and i read about Lua in a Your post. I began with Python but Lua captures my attention and now i use it for almost all my work and how it's fast. True that my work is really limited to simple tasks, but i only do that for my pleasure. ciao, francesco. -- View this message in context: http://csound.1045644.n5.nabble.com/OT-a-new-masterpiece-more-or-less-tp5723564p5723585.html Sent from the Csound - General mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |
