Subject[Csnd] latest version of csound~ for windows
Hi all and Steven,
i'm trying to understand why on my system ( Win 7 Professional 64bit )
csound~ does not work, with the great help of Rory, Steven and a lot of others.
Steven can you upload your latest version?
Or is the one on sourceforge?
many thanks

a.

The last build I did was the one one from the github issue thread:

http://www.kunstmusik.com/csound~_1.1.2.exe

I've been traveling the past week and am catching up with a lot of
work at the moment. I should be able to spend a few minutes right now
though to see if I can get the build to happen without linking to
pthreads.

Just FYI, I found my windows virtualbox machine is quite messed up. I
recently replaced my HD with an SSD and it looks like something has
gone wrong there. I'm running through a disk repair within the VM
right now. If that doesn't fix things, I'm not sure when I'll next
have time to re-setup windows and get a dev system back up and
running.

I'm translating what you wrote as "wouldn't it better if you spent
even more of your time to build out a dual-boot system so that you can
continue to work on something you don't ever use?". The answer is of
course, no. (I don't use csound~, and the student license I had for
Max has expired, so all of this time spent does nothing for me
personally...)

If someone else would contribute time to work on csound~, that'd be
fine by me. I'd be happy to explain everything to get setup.

My windows VM is a mess. I'm going to have to delete it and recreate
it from scratch. I don't know when I'll be able to do that, but I have
a lot of other things going on right now that have a higher priority
(mostly various conference presentation preparations). I'll see if I
can spend some time to rebuild the windows VM later this week. I
assume too that if Rory and Oeyvind figure out what's going on with
Cabbage, that it'd be the same resolution for what to do with csound~.

Yes Steven! i understand very well and you're totally right.
I'll definetly look in trying a compile session for csound on my machine.
May i ask you some hints if i'll get lost?
thanks!

SubjectRe: [Csnd] Re: latest version of csound~ for windows
Yes of course, I'm happy to answer any questions. To get started, you
will need to be able to build csound following the instructions given
in the document written by Michael. After that, you just need to
download and add the Max SDK to your system, and tell CMake where it
is by setting a variable MAX_SDK_ROOT to the location where you placed
the SDK. That's the only additional part outside of standard csound
build instructions.

If others are interested and want to work on csound~, but do *not*
want to have to build csound, let me know. I can separate the csound~
part into its own project so that it will just build against whatever
csound you have already installed. (With the way it is now, it's a
little easier to debug when building/testing within XCode on Mac, as
you can easily set breakpoints within the libcsound part of the code,
but it's a minor point and maybe it's more important for it to be
easier to build.)

SubjectRe: [Csnd] Re: latest version of csound~ for windows
Hi Steven. Removing all dependencies on pthread on Windows means
Cabbage plugins can now load on all versions of Live and Windows. Of
course, I'm shipping Cabbage with a minimal set of Csound dlls, but
users haven't complained so far. I don't mind having a go at building
csound~ with my current version of csound64.dll. What do I need to
enable in cmake in order to build it?

Great!
would be nice to have csound~ for both 32bit and 64bit architectures

best!

Hi Steven. Removing all dependencies on pthread on Windows means
Cabbage plugins can now load on all versions of Live and Windows. Of

users haven't complained so far. I don't mind having a go at building
csound~ with my current version of csound64.dll. What do I need to
enable in cmake in order to build it?
