I agree with Francesco. Use one of the envelope generators that ends with 
"r" (e.g., linsegr), and look it up in the manual.

Actually, the manual states that with "r" envelope generators, you don't 
need xtratim; the required additional time for release is automatically 
added to the event.

This means that such envelopes can be used with MIDI as well, as the last 
sustained envelope segment is held indefinitely until MIDI note off, 
whereupon the release segment ("r") starts and the necessary extra time is 
added.
