| Yes, very much so.
Was at NAMM Convention in Anaheim, CA, last weekend. Got a box series of
of DVD's all "The Art & Science of Sound Recording" by Alan Parsons of
the Alan Parsons Project (nice to encounter him again, been yonks). The
title says it all, "art and science". Music is an art, science explains
the mechanics of it and how it works.
Needless to say we had an interesting chat on the subject of the art and
science of it music and the art & science of the technical side it, which
may explain predelections for the tone I have on this subject. My encounter
with him is rubbing off on my comments here. And Mr Parsons can be rather
enlightening on the subject of the two facades of music.
Hope I'm not getting too soap-box'ish about this. Time with Mr Parsons is
quite educational.

(ps- and yes, ... I'm listening to some Alan Parsons Project on my laptop
at this moment. Knew someone would ask)

Yes exactly. There is naturally a science of music but that doesn't
make music a science.
