I was looking through the API if there are functions to return these lists.
They seem not to be there.
Is that because that would be too platform dependent?

Hi,

I think it would be useful to have these, so a host doesn't have to
parse text output. I've been thinking that functions like these could
be handled in a different header (e.g. csound_utils.h), as they don't
belong in the API proper, but they are certainly useful in most
instances.

I think something similar could be done for error reporting.
